today i was at HIGH Cafe for a warcraft tournament, which is actually part of the Rampage Asia tournament by Intel and WCG, only that this is the Singapore leg. Intel has been doing a lot lately to publicize their processors, from supporting WCG, Rampage Asia as well as HIGH Cafe and sponsoring clans like WE and 4Kings. speaking of rampage asia ... well the first thing is that the platform is battle.net, which means lag like mad (HELLO 200+ ping!) Second, all the korean professional players are in rampage asia, including MYM]Lucifer, NoA.Shy etc - but that's not the juicy part - the thing is that the pros all use different and totally unrelated alias when playing on battle.net, so you wont know what hit you when you got assraped horribly by some guy online. spare me cuz my weak heart cant take alll that excitement.bleagh.
anyway a cruel twist of fate had me up against girlyluck (Singapore no.2 ZOMG!) today. it was single elimination so it meant that only one of us would advance to the next stage. he won the coin toss, so he got to pick the first map : echo ilse. i was very nervous and didnt control well... .. i tried an all out rush at tier 2 with archers + talons + demonhunter + naga but it failed horribly cuz i had to teleport out before my ancients of wars came up. when i was back he had bears, not master yet, but it was bears nonetheless - i didnt manage to hurt him, delay his lores or his tech. i had lost my advantage of a rush so i typed GG and chose Terenas Stand for the 2nd game, which i HAD to win to have a chance to advance.
I wasnt nervous this time round, everything went according to plan .. i used my lastest strategy with 1 archer and demon hunter and a tech for quick bears with bear form, but he's the rub : i wanted to get a goblin shredder from the golbin lab but he clicked it first! so he got it and tried to rush me - the rush failed badly for him cuz despite having 6x more archers than i did i managed to force him to teleport out. but because he took the shredder i couldnt get the lumber i desperately needed - so i couldnt get my 2nd ancient of lore up, i couldnt tech and when we fought again he had more bears and he won.

well in the end galvin won the tournament (he was a favourite) and girlyluck didnt make it to top 4.
we went for lunch at around noon then we went back and watched the rest of the tournament, played some games (CS warcraft battlefield), joke around, slack, distrub each other and got to know lots of other people. then we went for prize giving and me and 3 other guys shared a cab home cuz we were all heading in the same direction.
and i realised that i forgot to sign up for KODE5 southeast asia tournament.. haha im gonna get vello to pull some strings and put me in haha hopefully. hmm by the way HIGH cafe's a pretty nice play to chill out cuz there's a bar and something like a club. HIGH cafe is an entire shophouse to itself and the 2nd floor is something like a LAN area with a bar and football screening and lounges and pool table . the theme and layout is kinda like a club. well they do serve alchoholic drinks. and lan is pretty cheap for the good graphics and hardware ! i think the management is rapture gaming and intel cuz there were intel labels all over (including the chairs and monitors lol).
