scoreboard.
having won the Singapore finals, galvin will represent Singapore for the Asian Championships, which would be a tough fight given that china and korea are taking part. china has xiao.t, and korea has soju. wont be easy .
4th august, today. agreed to meet ian for wcg first but didnt in the end. I went down before 12 today where i found galvin siting along. he told me that soju had just "ass-raped his opponent". this does not mean that he was on form though, its just pretty normal for koreans to beat their opponents rather easily.
here's a funfact: Korea has world renowned players like moon, remind, lucifer and fov. yet they decided to just send soju. you do the math.personally i think korea will take the title if not china.
here's a pic of the entrace. the theme is medieval times!
its quite well decorated and well organised actually.there was a center stage (for important matches), gaming area, booths by sponsors and also a really cool cosplay competition! i loved every part of it man ! there was this team singapore booth. looks like esports and professional gaming has been gaining importance and emphasis by SSC in recent years. it's very heartening, beacuse esports is requires just as much passion, sweat, blood and tears as any other sport would. perhaps one day singapore's name is high up with the ranks of china and korea.
actually i was talking to galvin abt professional gaming in sg today. he told me that the clan he was in (in fact 99% of clans in Singapore) do not financially support their gamers. compare this to korea, where gaming clan MYM (meetyourmakers) pay their players 9000USD a month just to train. in this light, korea has a complete edge over singapore in the nuturing and training of esports athelete. the reason for korea's support for gaming is largely due to the large fan base. the korean gamers endorse products from various companies like intel, razor, nike etc. bcause of the stong and self perpetuating gaming culture in korea, people can afford to become professional gamers. at least for the next few years powerhouses like korea and china would continue to dominate the glocal gaming scene. singapore however has lots of potential waiting to be tapped. i would like to see a world champion from singapore... go galvin! ahahah.
pictures of the cosplay competition!!!!!!!!! hot stuff! :D:D:D:D:D

thanks delphine for helping me to take photos. apparently she enjoyed the counterstrike stage match between singapore and malaysia. singapore won extremely narrowly, 16-15 to advance to the next stage.
hahaha. WCG still on tomorrow (sunday 5th august), so do check it out if you have the time.
im quite disappointed cuz i didnt manage to get soju's autograph and take a photo with him. the times i saw him he was either practicing or talking to his manager. even my friend who was a marshall couldnt help me get into the gaming area to say hi to soju. :(
